AC replacement in Salem is a sizing job, not a model-number swap. Raised ranches, split-levels, and colonials from the 1960s through the 1990s are the usual houses, plus older homes on the earlier roads. Forced air is common. Lots often sit close to the line. An old system that was oversized will short-cycle if the new one copies it. Humid stretches punish undersized returns and dirty coils. Condensers should not sit under a sliding snow load, and the outdoor unit's noise matters to the neighbor. Where the condenser sits, how the line set gets inside, and whether the pad is under a roof drip all change the quote. The Town of Salem has its own building department process. A Massachusetts license is not a New Hampshire fuel-gas license. Ask which credential covers the work on this side of the line. Salem is not on Liberty Utilities' published list of New Hampshire natural gas communities. Do not plan on a gas main until the utility says it is on the street. Oil and propane are the usual fuels. Electric delivery is often Eversource. Ask for the load calculation and what the quote excludes. This site does not publish a dollar figure.
